Whole Grain Morning Glory Muffins: A Nutritious Breakfast Treat

Whole Grain Morning Glory Muffins: A Nutritious Breakfast Treat

As the fall season ushers in colder weather, the idea of a cozy gathering with close friends sounds more appealing than ever. Whether it’s around a fire pit late into the night or over a wholesome breakfast on a chilly weekend morning, these moments are best shared with loved ones. Our recipe recommendation for these occasions? The Morning Glory Muffin.

A nostalgic nod to the “back to the land” movement of the ’60s, this recipe combines a variety of fruits and vegetables into a delectably moist whole-grain muffin. Despite its hearty composition, it’s surprisingly delicious. This muffin, lightly sweetened and moist, is a perfect grab-and-go treat that needs no additional butter or jam.

Our version of the Morning Glory Muffin is a nutritious delight, filled with wholesome ingredients like whole wheat flour, flax, apples, carrots, raisins, applesauce, and honey. The end product tastes like a delightful mix of apple cake, spice cake, and moist carrot cake, all rolled into one. Plus, with a plethora of substitution suggestions available, you can customize these muffins to suit your taste.

Morning Glory Muffins originated from the Morning Glory Cafe in Nantucket in the 1970s. They soon gained popularity as a kind of ‘hippie muffin’ due to their hearty composition of earthy, crunchy ingredients.
